Abstract

At the junior high school level, many challenges confront writing learning, such as lack of student motivation and poor writing skills. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) method is used in teaching writing at SRO Matiti Middle School. The aim of this research is to improve students' writing skills and increase their desire to learn. Research methods include preparation, implementation and evaluation. In the preparatory stage, relevant problems are identified and teachers are trained. Implementation involves showing real problems to students and helping them in the writing process. Evaluation is carried out by assessing students' writing results and collecting comments from students and teachers.The results showed that students' writing skills improved significantly; The average writing score increased from 60 to 75. Students were also more motivated to learn, as shown by their active participation and motivation to learn. Teachers believe that the PBL method provides a great framework for motivating students and teaching writing.According to this research, the PBL method improves students' writing skills and their motivation to study at SRO Matiti Middle School. It is recommended that this method be applied to other subjects and that teachers be given special training to understand and acquire the skills necessary to implement PBL. Thus, it is hoped that the quality of education will continue to improve.
